今回のテーマが「未来」と聞いた時、何週間も悩みました。暗闇を微かに照らす光、ランプ、灯台、夜明けの空、卒業式、未確定への恐怖やワクワク感…私にとっての未来から想像するものってなんだろう、となかなか決めきれずにいました。そんな時ふと手紙って過去から未来への贈り物だと思い、今回の題材に 「手紙」を選びました。
メールやLINEなど電子媒体でのやりとりが主流となった現代ですが、時折、友人やファンの方などから手紙やメッセージカードをいただくことがあり、とても嬉しく思っております。字や便箋などに人柄が現れているのも手紙の楽しみの1つです。ありがとうございます。

いつもとはちょっと雰囲気を変えて現代イメージな服を着た看板娘のこころちゃん、この子は郵便屋さんで、いつもは手紙を配る側なのですが、そんな彼女がもらった1通の手紙読んだ瞬間に溢れる感情、そんなシーンをイメージして描きました。背景の花は月見草、花言葉の1つは「ほのかな恋｣ です。

When I heard that the theme this time was to be 'the future' I worried about what to draw for several weeks. What did imagine when I thought of the future? A faint light illuminating the darkness, a lamp, a lighthouse, the dawn sky, a graduation ceremony, an unresolved fear
or excitement? I just could not make up my mind. Then it suddenly occurred to me, a letter represents a present from the past to the future and so I decided that my subject this time would be 'a letter.'
Even today, when email, Line and other electronic media have become the main form of communication, I sometimes receive a letter or greeting card from a friend or fan and it never ceases to delight me. The handwriting and the choice of writing paper say a lot about a person and I think that this makes up part of the enjoyment of receiving letters, so thank you all.

I have drawn my trademark character, Kokoro-chan, dressing her in a costume with a more contemporary feel than usual. The concept behind the picture is that she is a postal worker who spends her time delivering letters, but this shows the moment when she receives a letter of her own and overflows with emotion. The flowers in the background are
evening primroses, and one of their meanings in the language of flowers is 'faint love.'
