More details will be released July 2nd with their series panel at Anime Expo 2022. "Series creator Yasuhiro Nightow, Kouji Tajima (Designer), Kiyotaka Waki (Producer at Orange), Yoshihiro Watanabe (Producer at Orange) and Katsuhiro Takei (Producer at Toho) will be in attendance."

Surprising to see the series make a comeback after so long. Hoping it's either based off of the manga, or something original, as the anime ended well enough to be left alone. Initially skeptical of it being 3D as many studios still struggle with CGi, but Studio Orange have proven themselves repeatedly with prior series so that hopefully won't be a problem. Speaking of, still ultimately disappointed that with this announcement it means we're likely not getting a Houseki no Kuni / Land of the Lustrous season 2 any time soon. Bummer, especially with everything that's happened in the manga since season 1 concluded in 2017.
