Agreed. But I've found that manga are almost always better than the anime. But then again, I'm a purist when it comes to "sticking to the original" when it comes to adapting it. Whether it be manga to anime, or professional dubbing.

The Kampfer manga is based off the Kampfer light Novel series. So wouldn't the light novel series be the "purest" form and the anime being the least "purest" form. Btw the author of the manga is the same person who created the original novel series, so the manga is closest to the original I guess.
Sometimes word cannot be pictured, vice versa. Depending on writer skill adapting to a manga might be a bad thing (see Bakemonogatari novel and Medaka Box manga, can't believe they're written by the same person)
