The number of favorites a post has doesn't factor into whether it gets approved or not.

I know it's not a direct factor, but usually the only stuff that isn't approved is crappy art no one likes, or stuff that violates the rules.

To be more accurate, it's only the stuff that the Mods and Janitors like that gets approved of. The opinion of the masses doesn't factor.

So that's why it seems every touhou and k-on! picture gets accepted. They must be spending all their time working on those and missing a bunch of others.
