I wonder if Strange trolled Dormammu as well in any of those loops?
The entire "Dormammu, I have come to bargain" was a troll, he forced an immortal, timeless being to feel the agony of time and repetition. for the first time in it's existence. The entire point of the exercise was for make Dormammu so annoyed at linier time and causality to leave Earth 616 alone.

It also gave Strange the opportunity to gain experience fighting a being of that level. The Strange before and after that battle was like night and day in terms of knowledge and power.
