Is Sakuya reasoning that the reason Flan used that approach, was because of the trick that Yuyuko's team pulled earlier. Flan did watch all the past matches so far, and they were well unorthodox to say the least.

In Touhou being a god doesn't quite account for much, more so in this tournament, since it's about physical prowess than anything else. Naturally, some characters have a major advantage in this area, Meiling and Flandre being two of them.

Exactly. Reimu and Marisa, two humans, have fought and defeated a goddess much stronger than Kanako and Suwako, and in her own realm no less. A god is just another type of being in Gensokyo, a land where common sense doesn't apply.

Suwako isn't exaclty a "energy power" based goddess (aka those only dependant of danmakuing their way and stuff), at least in the way that the tournament barrier would nerf her completely, remember that she's an old fashioned japanese warrior god, unlike in Gensokyo, she had her deal of going around fighting in hand to hand and even with weapons against her foes, in fact, the way she meet Kanako was pretty much by having her weapons and the weapons of her troops being rusted to oblivion by Kanako's wind.

So i wouldn't understimate her and use the "it doesn't matter if she's a goddess" it does matter, you may be able to defeat gods and goddesses in Gensokyo but it isn't any easy and neither a sure victory, specially with a Goddess that has way more war experience than all the Scarlet Devil Mansion combined, and man this is a SDM fan telling you this, they may be strong for sure, but they'll have some serious problems against the combined might of Suwako's battle experience and prowess (at least the prowess allowed by the barrier)

True. Unlike the perception of God popular in Western Culture (Abrahemic religion's omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, Haxman,) Shinto God comes in all sizes, from lowly God of...I dunno, tea pot (in all seriousness, they exist,) to the very powerful Gods such as Kanako and Suwako (They're based on real Shinto Gods, btw). However, God of Suwako's class is by no means weak. Of course, this does not mean we can't have contestants who are even stronger than that.
