Since I think you can have Shepard either Male or Female, and there is no canon gender for Shepard yet, I don't think it applies. Of course, this is still up for debate.

no, that's the way you play it. cannon is the way the writers wanted it. i don't know if you could say there is a "canon" Shepard but the one in the art is certainly more legit then a random one you make.
