Ana's entire schtick was that she was raised in Japan by parents who speak Japanese at home. Even though she's English by blood, her English skills are terrible, and she's been socialized as Japanese. Her friends, however, expect otherwise, and great comedy results when she attempts to deliver upon those expectations.
