Did you have whips in Dark Soul? Because I think this is much more of an impossible game than that.

I even wanted to do a whip-only run at one point, but whips are slow, deal weird damage, and Dark Souls 2 (the one with the most options, including a whip covered in thorns that caused bleeding) always had a very weird bug where durability would drop twice as fast as normally, so whips are extremely situational. I feel uneasy commenting on that because it's a rule of thumb, but I have legitimately no idea if it applies to all the whips or not. I very vaguely remember one whip made out of hair, the witch's whip or whatever, who dealt fire damage, but I can't remember which game it came from, or if the fire bypassed armor or not, since in some games, fire was fire and physical damage. But in general, yeah, whips are slashing weapons, and therefore are only efficient on Nilou's unprotected and naked buttcheeks.
