Other than the obvious joke, does this somehow make the hotdogs grill better? I for one, enjoy the crispy lines of burnt along my weiners.

I do suppose that piercing the middle will limit the extent of the burn lines, while cooking the inside of the sausages at the same time (assuming that heat travels from the feet of the frame to the sausage).
