Wow, this one made me cry. The pain of immortality is just too great, and Shikieiki knows it. Glad she allowed this, though I wonder if it's just a visit.

Of course, Mokou cannot see the underworld. Just as she said, "Ghosts without a soul can never be born and people who can never die can never see the netherworld."

It sounds like something Shiki would say to her, too.
But that doesn't mean she can never see her. After all, Keine can be a ghost when she dies, and Mokou can still see her.
Though, I'm not sure if it'll be the same...

Except Yuyuko is a ghost and that doesn't stop the fandom from having Mokou and Kaguya from interacting with her.

I actually thought Keine found a way to let Mokou die... :S Nice picture indeed.

I think that "see the netherworld" is as saying they can't go there. If the dead goes out of the netherworld I think an immortal would be able to see it if any other person can.

Yeah, since in the Extra stage with IN Yuyuko did interact with Mokou if you used the Ghost team. Not sure how easy it'd be for mere shapeless ghosts to get out of there.

Yukari could weaken the border of life and death, or maintain it. Whatever the case, Mokou isn't subject to them and can never die. However, that doesn't mean a ghost can't go through.

Failing that, this could all be taking place on the Road of Liminality. PMiSS states that the living and the dead can interact just fine there.

Ghosts can interact with immortals just fine. What Yuyuko meant was Kaguya and Mokou can never enter the afterlife since you have to be dead to go there (the living aren't allowed save possibly Yukari, since she could just manipulate the border between life and death, and maybe Shikieiki and Komachi depending on how you would classify them). Even the heroes in PCB technically "died" the moment they entered Yuyuko's realm!

I think it's mentioned that the border that the characters cross in Stage 4 of PCB is the Border of Life and Death. There's also the fact that anything that cannot die (eg Mokou) can't enter the Netherworld since being there would classify them as dead. I dunno, I'm not an expert on the Touhou canon.

That's true. But I wouldn't go as far as interpreting that as passing the border meaning literally 'die'. Because the girls still maintaining the soul in their body, and that disqualify for being dead. Think of it this way: Yuyuko has crossed this border many times to go to the world of living, but she is never literally 'alive' for being there.

For the other matter about immortal cannot go to the Netherworld, in extra IN...

This sentence means exactly that. She never know what the netherworld would be like since there has been no chance/reason for her to go there yet. I doubt she is unable to go there if she really want to.

The Border of Life and Death, "like most barriers in Gensokyo, it is rather vague, and, while it's powerful enough to keep people from passing directly through, there's nothing preventing people from flying over it."

And everyone in Gensoukyo can fly :)
