I understand Reimu... but I don't understand Sanae... anyone care to explain?

Neither one of them get any paying visitors considering their shrine's locations and situation. Sanae has it worse than Reimu is you think about it.

As far as I remember, Sanae gets a considerable amount of visitors canonically. She's more enthusiastic about the whole faith thing, takes long trips to spread the word about the shrine... and the fact you can actually see the gods of the shrine and talk to them probably helps a lot, too.

Really, I remember reading on the Touhou wiki that the Moryia(however you spell it) Shrine as positioned within the Youkai mountains and that seldom few people actually visit the shrine due to all the youkai around. That's either outdated now or was a mistranslation so my opinion might be based on false info.

I don't know exactly either. It's been a long time since I was willing to go through all the canon material, I'm way too lazy nowadays.

Well, the Moriya Shrine is supported by tengus & youkai within the vicinity of Youkai Mountain. Also, humans are strictly forbidden from the place (except Sanae, Reimu, Marisa, Sakuya & Youmu - as shown on the games, they can enter the mountain freely despite their human blood).

I think that's due to being able to force their way through, but for regular humans, that's about nearly impossible. A definite sign of Kanako not thinking things through, good thing Tengus and Kappa do well in a pinch.

Also something VERY popular is Byakuren's temple due to its better location (near the village) and its un-discriminatory humble nature. Which is in comparison to the shrines in their out of the way locations and high and mighty attitudes at times.

Kanako did try to take Reimu's shrine when they came originally. So Reimu has no visitors as she rarely acts unless its an incident and the humans think the shrine is well there but thats about it. Sanae has two gods that like to drink and party and Sanae has to clean up and pay for. Its equally bad money wise, but Sanae has to do a lot more.

The Moriya Shrine is visited by tengu and kappa mainly. The Hakurei Shrine, located by humans, isn't visited often by the due to it being out of the way.

And now they have the much closer, and safer, Myouren Temple. Reimu can't ever win. Imagine how the Hakurei god feels...

actually, Hakurei, Moriya and the Buddhist temple have problems with Human faith.

Mariya is nearly inaccessible by Humans, having only Tengu and Kappa.

Hakurei is visited almost exclusively by Youkai, with only the occasional festivals

Byakuren's temple preaches equality for Youkai... which obviously do not sit well with Humans, and you really think Youkai would like to be equal to a Human, other than Miss Overkill ladies?

If I still remember UFO correctly, Byakuren was sealed away by humans, which may hint at just how unpopular her egalitarian philosophy is (that or her agelessness).
Sanae's place is deep within tengu territory, and Reimu's place is frequented with the very youkai she supposedly had to contain and, if needed, exterminate.

Erh...what? How can he stop anyone from showing people the ending of a game? Beside if Justy only show you the ending then it wouldn't be horribly bad.

well, you know, places like the Wikia don't have the endings for that reason.

And that's my point. Justy obviously know why I'm wrong, I don't know why he doesn't tell me.

He has no way to "stop" people if they wish, but if the creator of a loved series says "don't do this". Most if not, his fans will abide by it.

ZUN only wants people to see the endings if they deserved it. As in actually beating the games.

I didn't want to ruin it for you and sharing the endings is generally frowned upon. And I think that in UFO, 1cc on Easy is enough to give you a good end. And, how to say it, if you can't beat easymodo...

UFO 1cc on easymodo DOES get you the 1cc clear endings. Just collect all red UFOs and on the way to Byakuren, make sure you punch Shou in the face for using curvy lasers.

The difficulty jump from Easy to Normal on UFO is kind of intense. Easymodo is as its namesake. Normal is not...at least compared difficulty-wise to the other Touhou games.

I've always found this kind of funny really since aren't most of the versions people play in the west pirated to begin with and then hacked with a translation patch? If that's true that means that apparently it's okay to steal and mod the game itself, but god help you if you post the ending somewhere!

Everything is going to pirated in this digital age. We all know it. If your going to make a video game or anime series, you know your own series will be pirated. So might as well set some ground rules for your fans. Such as telling them what pisses you off and what you find alright. In ZUN's case, it pisses him off when you get the ending you didn't deserve. And it also pisses him off when people make doujins but never played his games.

I can't read moonrunes. I can't dodge danmaku very well either, but I'm a helluva lot better at reaching Patchy than I am at comprehending kanji. It's not like the game is available at Wal-Mart.

Only side effects are humiliation at accidentally dying to Cirno (again. . .) and the inability to enjoy Frantic 2 anymore because it's just too easy.

The Touhou Wiki DOES have the summaries of the endings. You'll just have to man up and finish the game to get the full experience.

UFO is way harder than everything else even on Easy. It's the only one I can't 1cc at all....

Have to agree on that one, getting extra lives on UFO is a lot harder than it is on the other games. The sole existence of the UFOs makes playing harder than others. In SA you got lives almost automatically with the life pieces, in MoF, EoSD, etc, you got life pieces every 20m and so.

Plus if your computer is fast, beating Shou on normal is not easy.

Maybe that's why Nue was so horribly easy to beat.

No one says that the visitors have to be human. Moriya gets plenty of tengu and kappa visitors. Hakurei gets a handful of freeloaders who don't actually donate anything.
