In reality, in his autobiography he writes: "I cannot say that I feel exactly in the pink, but my determination to fly outweighs every other consideration." When this was translated freely into Japanese, it wrote "No time to rest, we must attack again!" When this was posted on the internet, it is said that they misinterpreted the meaning and thought it was a line that he said to Gadermann. The situation, "The poor Gadermann with 3 broken ribs encouraged to attack" was amusingly interpreted in Japan and this misunderstanding spread throughout Japan. Whether if Gadermann joined Rudel in the attack or not is unknown.
