I think the one clinging to Ed is a girl, hips are way to sexy to be a trap.

Envy is whatever it chooses to be, it can swap forms(and therefore genders) at will.

These are actually two different Envies. The left one (more slender frame, clothes which have a slight purple-ish tint, fuller hair with a distinct green hue) is the 2003 anime Envy. The right one (more pronounced muscles, clothes with a brown colouring, hair that comes down in long wisps with more space between them and the hair itself is more black) is the Brotherhood Envy.
