    かなり有名な話らしいですが私はこの夏初めて知りました。

    An urban legend

This seems to be a well-known story, but I heard it for the first time this summer.

I have heard this urban legend somewhere.

When a man went to the ocean, he got a cut on his knee with a barnacle shell on a rocky stretch.
He left it untreated as he thought it was a small cut. But a few days later, his knee started to hurt. Feeling severe pain which he could not stand, he went to the hospital.
The doctor took an X-ray of the man’s swollen knee and found a fuzzy shade at the back of the kneecap. The man thus immediately underwent a surgery.
The doctor who put the knife into the man’s knee was shocked when he found a large number of barnacles parasitized on the back of the man’s knee cap.
Barnacle eggs had entered from the cut and had been bred…

In reality, barnacles cannot be bred in a human body as the salt level of human blood completely differs from that of seawater.

Ao Usagi occasionally does stories like these where the beginning looks serious, only to abruptly end it in a humorous fashion.

This reminds me of the story with the boy who had a baby snail stuck in his knee.
