It depends. Sometimes it's outfitted with flares, etc.

The E-2 does not have any mounted weapons, all the avionics add too much weight, and it's not really supposed to be put in situations where it would need them anyway.

Well, as an escort plane, an F-15 would make more sense for Momiji. Then again, I'm not sure there's a plane in the world that could serve as an escort for a SR-71.

The whole point of the SR-71's high performance was to be effectively immune to attack anyway.

Mission for both planes, were both recon, were done differently. I'd like to see even a modern SAM or AAM take down an SR.

You know the sad part. The SR-71 Blackbird is the only spy plane (Jet to be correct) not being used. Hell the U-2 is still being used by the CIA. So sorry Aya -.- you've been outclassed.

E-2 Hawkeye also still being used for as an aerial Control Tower to keep track of bombers and payloads on targets.

I believe each aircraft depicts the characteristic of each character

SR-71 as Aya: as both are high speed and equipped with a camera

U-2 as Hatate: they are both equipped with camera, but not high speed

E-2 as Momiji: not equipped with either camera or supersonic speed, but has ability to 'see' great distance (the artist may compare Momiji's ability with that of advance airborne radar)

Isn't that SR-71 the trainer version? Looks like it because of the triangular windows on the "rear cockpit."

It's an AEW&C aircraft, serving the same role as the larger Boeing E-3 and E-767 AWACS aircraft.
