As I looked around me, all I see was darkness. And then I knew I was dead. But I didn't want to die. I didn't want this kind of suffering. I closed my eyes and relaxed my mind......I tried to look back at what I experienced in my past life. All those happy memories...all the joys and pleasures of life......and I started to dream. It was a wonderful dream. I was lying in the spot where I died, under the great cherry tree.... I looked around, and all I saw were cherry blossoms falling. It was raining cherry blossoms. Then I saw a light. A bright, purple light. I was startled, so I opened my eyes...only to find that the great light got brighter. After a few moments the light faded, and as it happened, countless cherry blossom petals started to rise and transformed into ghostly butterflies. And strange hovering lights appeared before me and all of a sudden, I felt like I was floating. I tried to snap myself out of this trance, but the power was so overwhelming that there was no way to fight it. I felt so energized, so powerful......And then I knew I was no longer dead. I was ALIVE."

~somahiru, I lied. I was supposed to draw Sakuya, but all of a sudden, plans changed. I'm terribly sorry.

Anyway, this is Yuyuko Saigyouji, from the Touhou franchise.

This drawing is part of my Touhou Fan Project under the sub-project "Touhou Legends"

Concept:

I tried my best to create a powerful-looking Yuyuko while trying to maintain her graceful and elegant appearance.

It was tough trying to come up with the perfect weapon for her. And then I saw this picture and then I thought that this would make a great reference. I told myself..."A Yuyuko with swords...that's something that you don't see everyday". Of course, I have to use the reference pic without ripping stuff off. So I thought "maybe I can give her to turn her fans into swords when needed"...

And so, here's the final result. Yuyuko holding an open fan in front of her face and holding a transformed sword-fan-thing with her other hand.

Now this drawing's starting to grow on me. it's just so epic and majestic...a big step-up from my Letty Whiterock fanart. And this took much less time. (I worked on Letty in 6 hours while Yuyuko just took 4 hours to finish)
