I think it's about tensing up your muscles before you lunge forward. Only Meiling does so with Chi as well.

Hopefully the fairy maids are better at replacing broken doors than their normal duties.

Looks like her dash attack animation in Scarlet Weather Rhapsody.

It's almost certainly a reference to chinese martial arts, if I had to guess an internal one by the wording and imagery used, but if there is actually a style the author had in mind, there is not enough detail for me to be able to tell which.
