This is a reference to the fact that once you get to North Town in the Empire, the strongest equipment that you can buy for the Hero and the Sprite is called the Tiger Suit while the strongest equipment you can buy for the Girl is a Tiger Bikini. Strangely the bikini provides more defence than the suit.
