Kawaminami Akira is one of the main characters from the mystery novel (later adapted into a manga) Jukkakukan no Satsujin. She is usually called "Conan" by Shimada Kiyoshi because the kanji in her name can also be read "Konan".
In the novel, Kawaminami is male (his first name is Taka'aki).
