American comic book series published by DC Comics.

The first issue (cover date: June 1938), the debut of Superman, was published by National Allied publications, a corporate predecessor of DC Comics.
The cover art was done by Joe Shuster.

In recent years the title was brought back as a Superman focused series, similar to what would happen to the Detective Comics label.
