    cross (xenoblade x)

The customizable main character of Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Contrary to popular belief, Cross is not the official name for the avatar. The avatar does not have a default name in Japanese, English, and other languages. The name "Cross" was used once in a Japanese footage from the Nintendo Direct aired on November 5, 2014. A fan translator mistook it as the official name for the avatar. This name was used again in the Japanese footage of the second trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, while the name "Ryan" was used in the English footage.

The default male has red-brown hair with a prominent cowlick, and the default female has black hair tied into medium twintails; however, unlike many comparably customizable protagonists, Cross's defaults are not particularly iconic, and most art of them is instead the artist's or commissioner's original character wearing in-game armor options.
