The novel would be made into a film in 1932, and that film would get a 1983 remake starring Al Pacino.
The 1983 film follows Tony Montana (Pacino), a Cuban refugee who arrives in Miami to start a new life. As Tony and his friends get involved in the illegal but lucrative Cocaine drug trade, the movie follows Tony rise as a rich and powerful drug lord to his fall as his drug addiction, temper and paranoia alienate his family, friends and allies.
The movie was a hit and is considered a cult classic, with many Hip-hop and Rap artists loving the movie as a "Rags to Riches" story. The movie would later have a 2006 video game adaptation, Scarface: The World Is Yours for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Wii and PC. The videogame is set in an alternate universe where Tony survives the ending of the movie where he kills the assassins send by his former partner Alejandro Sosa. After surviving the attack, a remorseful Tony blames himself for the deaths of his family and friends and decide to quit taking drugs, rebuild his criminal empire and take revenge against Sosa and his minions.
