Honestly, I don't think it would work quite as well. Part of the humor of this series come from how the characters defy stereotypical gender roles (i.e Nozaki looks tough and manly but writes manga aimed at girls, Kashima is the school's "Prince" despite being a girl, Mikoshiba acts like a flirt but is really shy and acts like a typical female tsundere when embarrassed). I think you'd have to change some things for it to work.

Nah~, that would only turn it into a regular, typical shoujou manga full of stereotypical characters and cliche situations.
The unique thing about this manga is that it make fun of every stereotypical character types and cliche situations you can find in the shoujo manga genre.
