This needs to be done with Bernadetta. Not because Bernie is a powerful mage, though she shockingly can be, but because her VA is the same as English Megumin.

Now that I know this I'm definitely going Warlock Bernie next play through. Too bad she'll just be wearing the generic warlock outfit.

Update: Magic build Bernadetta is not only viable, it's amazing. She'll never hold a bow again in my playthroughs.
