I find it quite interesting that:

a) Nonomi and Wakamo are not limited, or at least they don't seem to be since there is no limited rateup alert, which means regular Wakamo is rarer than her alternate skin;

b) they used previously introduced designs from the 3rd PV and made them into alternate skins for the Abydos gang, which could maybe possibly perhaps mean a Sports Festival Yuuka in the near future.

You didn't watched that then. It was already hinted that the summer event for abydos is coming sooner or later.

That much I figured, though I certainly did not expect Wakamo to show up out of nowhere and crash the party.

Everyone at that point anticipated Abydos Summer event. Wakamo however is another story.
