If they hatch from eggs, would they still breastfeed? Wouldn't nipples be useless and not part of their anatomy, too? (I don't know this franchise)

As Burroughs described them, they're basically human apart from the egg-laying thing. The Barsoom stories are not what you would call hard science fiction. Or even firm science fiction. :)
