However, I wonder if this weapon would really be called a pistol given its size? It's more like an artillery piece in the shape of a pistol and/or revolver. Unless this Miwa really just a minigirl...?

Does it strike anyone else that the gun isnt properly proportioned? Thats a long distance between the hammer and the cylinder. Artist created a seat for her on the gun.
